Hi!
I am looking to upgrade my current computer. I know it's old(I bet that's an understatement)
Pentium dual core E2180 @ 2.0
1 GB DDR2
Nvidia Geforce 7300LE( :pfff:  :pfff:  )

The New build is gonna be around 800$

Typical System Usage : Multitasking, Gaming, Video editing.

Country of Origin: India

Parts Preferences: AMD - ATI

Overclocking: Maybe

Monitor Resolution:1440x900 future upgrade to 1920x1200

I've made a list of the stuff I would wanna buy.

Processor:- AMD Phenom II x6 1100T BE or any better hexa-core

RAM:- Corsair Vengeance 2x 4GB @ 1600Mhz

GPU:- Trying to decide over the 6850, 6870, 6950 1GB. Anything more would push me over budget.

Asus MotherBoard - M5A88-M EVO is what I'm looking at.

PSU & Case :- Clueless.

I would like some help because I would want this to last for atleast 2 or 3 years.
Also I am confused upon judging whether to wait for the new HD 7000's or maybe even the new bulldozers(If they are worth it)

Thanks guys.

Get This Build :
AMD Phenom II 1100T
Asus M5A88M Evo
Corsair Vengance 2*4GB
WD Green 500 GB
Cooler Master CM690
Corsair VX 550
XFX HD 6950 1 GB

Total : Almost Rs 45000 INR

Need a Cheaper Build
Swap 6950 into 6850 and the case into NZXT Gamma
It would come around 40000 INR

I was thinking of going for the Cooler Master Chasis Gladiator 600. Its about 2k lesser.
Also I was thinking about Xfire in the future. So I'm guessing I would need more than 550W of power right?

6950 CrossFire is a superb config. It needs about 750-850W just to be sure.

The WD Green is a low performance HDD's because of its lower rpm and lower power consumption, its usually used for storage drives instead of boot+storage drives.

The Corsair VX 550 is a pretty old model, you should aim for a TX, HX, AX or CX of the Corsair PSU series, or some other quality power supply from Antec, Seasonic and other good brands. You would need at least 500w for a single 6950 and 750w for Dual 6950's

You should go for an i5 2500k and a Z68 motherboard like the AsRock Extreme3 Gen3 which has Pci-e 3.0 and with support for CrossFire and SLI, the Asus M5A88M Evo does not. The price might rise a bit because of this but I reckon its worth it.

I have the 6850 and i personally like it alot, I couldnt tell you if the others mentioned are better but you wouldnt be disappointed with the 6850. as for a psu i would go with FinneousPJ's suggestion atleast 750w. You definately are gonna want power with your build, and anything too low might bog it down.. aha I wouldnt know from experience, but i read that somewhere just browse your favorite site i like Newegg and definately read reviews. If you are indecisive on whether you should wait for future upgrades if your able to afford it then just upgrade later on? But those are my suggestions and case is pretty versitile I personally prefer a full tower but i suppose they are more expensive? idk i just like to have more room to work with it's all personal preference really i suppose...

Well...
I've come up with this,

Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1100T

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4 (1600 Mhz)

Mobo: Asus - M5A88-V EVO

PSU: Cooler Master PSU(SMPS) GX 750W(Apparently it can push upto 900W when needed)

Case: Cooler Master Chasis Gladiator 600

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870

Gosh. Think thats a good build?. Think I can play MW3, Revelations, NFS, BF3 at max?.

At your 1440 x 900 sure but at 1920 x 1200 the 6870 is going to choke. I'd recommend getting the 6950 2 GB now if you're planning a 1200p screen.

Sorry its a 1080p screen. Getting a 6950 2GB is gonna put more than a few holes in my wallet. Is a 1GB 6950 up to it then?. Lol it's gonna a be a huge difference from my old GPU.
Also I'm going to be holding on to the mobo's GPU (HD 4250) for a little while. How good do you think that runs?.

Yeah the 1 GB model is going to be fine at full HD. The integrated GPU is good for Microsoft Office and browsing the web.

You wont be CrossFiring with the Asus M5A88-V EVO, 2nd Pci-e slot only goes up to x4

Wait what?. As far as I recall, the mobo supports 2 x16 lanes.

Also will a x6 thuban work well for games in max?.
If i crossfire a 6950, will I be getting a bottleneck?.

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A88V_EVO...

It shows:

Expansion Slots

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1
3 x PCI

So the second Pci-e x16 slot physically fits x16 cards but only runs at x4 mode.

Which one do you suggest then?.
Would mounting the second on the x4 lane make a difference?.

Mounting it on a x4 lane won't run CrossFireX at its full potential, maybe around 25% performance loss.
I'll suggest the ASRock 990FX Extreme3.

I decided aginst Xfire. This build is gonna last for maybe 2 years.
Then I'll upgrade to a better processor and a better GPU.

Is 550 W good enough?. Would I really need a tower? Is it worth the extra space?
Hard drives are getting harder to buy
WD caviar black or the 2 TB caviar green?.

EDIT: Cooler Master PSU(SMPS) GX 550W is this good enough?

The 550w psu is plenty

A tower? Just any good case that supports atx motherboards should be fine, really depends on what you like. A mid tower case is fine.

The 2tb green drive at a low rpm lowering performance but increasing efficiency, they're mainly used for storage, not for boot drive, although one of my pc's use it for boot... but I would go for the WD caviar black, you should just get a cheap 7200rpm drive, like the seagate barracuda 500gb or the caviar blue 500gb because of the price increase. Depends on how much storage you need though.
