Weird question about the Ram clips

This is going to sound very strange and weird but I would like to know if it would be safe to cut or file down the clips that hold the RAM in place? I was also thinking if I heated a pair of scissor blades and just slice it through because I assume the clips are just plastic I just need to cut about 1 inch.

What exactly are you doing that would require you to cut them? Since they are so small, I don't see how you would get 1 inch. Besides, it is probably easier to just take them off instead of cutting/filing them. The ram can stay in without the clips.
