Cannot connect to internet

Hello,
Lost my connection to internet after uninstalling AVG antivirus. Running Win XP SP3. If I try running ipconfig it doesn't return anything. Think there may have been changes made to registry which could be causing connectivity problem. If I ping my router I get "Destination Host Unreachable"

The quickest way to restore settings (I have found), is to click "Start", "run command" type "devmgmt.msc" (no quotes), drop down "Network Adaptors", right click your NIC, and uninstall it. Then Right click the computer at the top, and "scan for hardware changes". Plug and Pray should pick up your NIC and reinstall the drivers. Once they are reinstalled, you might be good to go...
