Ok so in my attempt to educate myself here at the scholl of T.H. I keep stumbling over all the connector references given under various thread discussions . I.E. 4 pins , 3 pin , 4 pin + this or that . Is there a sticky somewhere ( that I havnt found yet ) that gives the whole list , definition , and application or do I need to search the posts and assemble it ? :( :??:

I can give you a run down of the connectors:
24 Pin/20 Pin: These are the motherboard connectors, there is also a variant called the 20+4 pin connector which is both.

8 Pin/4 Pin: These are also motherboard connectors, as before there is a 4+4 pin connector which is both.

PCIe (6+2 Pin): This is the connector used for all PCIe devices, it can be used as a 6 Pin or an 8 Pin.

4 pin/ 3 Pin: These connect the fans to the mobo.

Molex: These have 4 Pins but ARE NOT 4 pin connectors, these power fans and other thingamajigs.

Those are all the PSU based cables. There are others such as SATA HDD connectors.

TY for that . I think most of the references were in regard to gpu's , in particular when the question involved sli or crossfire applications coupled with a specific psu . like " make sure the cpu has enough blah blah blah connectors
