Now i want to start off by saying I understand why it is coming up with this error when i turn on my PC but i want to know if it ok to have it hooked up how i do. I recently got the Asus p8z68-v pro gen 3 and everything about the installation went fine except my Cpu fan power cord could not reach the designated spot on the motherboard. So instead i just plugged it into the CPU fan opt slot which i thought meant optional. But if it was optional why does the CPU fan failure error pop up everytime i start up my PC? Someone please help and thank you for your time in advance.

I believe the error pops up because there is nothing present or running the CPU fan header...that being said I got the same message on an old HP build when I had a cpu fan hooked up to the power supply. Just plug any fan in there and I believe you will no longer get the error.
