VGA to HDMI adaptor

Hello,
I just bought a 10m HDMI cable only to realise my PC has no HDMI socket, but VGA socket. What can I do to connect my PC to the TV? And how should I program the PC to recognise the connection? Thank you. Ofofr

dont think you can do vga to hdmi without a convertor

you can do dvi to hdmi if your pc has a dvi socket

otherwise i think you need one of these

You could improvise by putting a VGA to DVI onto a female DVI to HDMI, Note you shouldn't have this permanent and even though the end single is coming from HDMI, it will still be analog.

thanks a lot for your help. I'm a real starter in all this so please pardon me. I was told that blue socket behind the pc is a VGA but what is a dvi socket and how does it look like? I probably have that behind my PC. If not I'll definitely go for the amazon site you kindly provided. Cheers!! Ofofr

dvi is white and looks like this

you could also upgrade your graphics card to one with dvi output

Even the cheapest retail graphics cards today have DIV and HDMI, that would be your best bet other than messing around with adapters.
