Toshiba laptop bios password

my toshiba satellite a40 is asking for a bios password. how do i bypass

I have the same problem. I inherited the laptop and cannot get the original ownership documents. I do not want to do anything illegal. Is it possible to replace the bios in the laptop? The laptop is a Toshiba, Equium, Model A210-1C4
OS Vista.
Can I replace the bios, or are there any other options. I am reasonably familiar with opening laptops... replacing parts
