Approximate Purchase Date: November 12th weekend

Budget Range: $1,000-$2,000 (can) altogether / Rebates? I'd need more info on rebates, first time ordering.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Watching and Streaming movies/TV. Playing WoW and Black Ops. Hopefully all in 3-D

Parts Not Required: Mouse/Keyboard. I may not need monitor because I'm thinking of using a large flat LCD HDTelevision, (if you guys know a good deal on a TV by all means let me know)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.ca has been really easy to use so far. No preferences though.

Country of Origin: Canada

Parts Preferences: Wanted to use a Lanboy Air case because in my opinion it looks awesome and all the space in there should make for an easy build. Had someone mention I can use a Home Theater case? Havent seen one yet, open to all suggestions.

Overclocking: Maybe (suggestions?)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe (suggestions?)

Monitor Resolution: Again, I'd like to go 3-D, so I'm not sure what kind of monitor I want to use, I think I'll be using a large HDTV

Additional Comments: I know there are a few ways of 3-d viewing, i'm having a hard time choosing how to go so really looking forward to some of your input. I'm also very flexible on my budget, I'd obviously like to save as much as I can but I would also like to build a machine that will last me and I understand you gotta pay for quality.

Thanks a million for the help, cheeers

Here's the thing about going 3-D - you're going to have to wait a while before games and software that takes advantage of the technology shows up. Even the newest games like Arkham City, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim don't really take advantage of the technology yet. There's a few 3-D LEDs right now that are on the market but the markups on them are freaking ridiculous - the cheapest one is the Samsung model which goes for around ~$450. Honestly, yeah you're right - you're far better off going with a 40 - 47" 3-D LED than you are getting a 3-D desktop monitor.

And yes, the Lanboy Air is quite an amazing case - I almost bought one but wound up going with the Corsair Graphite 600T instead.

Try this build:

Case: Antec Lanboy Air - $149.99
PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer MKII 950W - $159.99
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P - $179.99
CPU: 3.30GHz Intel Core i5-2500K - $219.99
Cooler: Corsair H100 - $119.99
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC 1600MHz 1.5V - $48.99
SSD: 128GB Crucial M4 - $219.99
HD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - $149.99
Video Card: EVGA Geforce GTX 570 1.2 GB - $339.99
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - $99.99

Total cost: $1743.99

You don't really need a sound card though - they don't do the jobs they did like 10 - 15 years ago. All I've ever used since my first build in 2007 is the onboard audio and it works perfectly fine.

This looks like one badass build.. a little on the pricey side with the big screen but I'll make a few tweaks and see what i come up with. As for the sound card I may go Delta I'm a musician as well and do a lot of recording, is something I didn't mention. Thanks for the help guys!
