Ok so currently i have

Palit GTX460 1gb
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz
6gb Tri Channel DDR3 @ 2000mhz
Asus P6X58D-E motherboard

Im looking to upgrade my GFX cards to either 570 1.3gb or 580 1.5gb's and SLI in the future.
My aim is to play games like bf3/GW2 etc in 3D with a decent framerate, again possibly going 3d surround later on.
My question is which cards would you recommend for this? is paying the extra for the 580's worth it, or would I have enough performance for BF3 and Guildwars 2 in 3D surround on 2x 570's.

I am in the same position as you, I have a 460 and am thinking of getting a 570. But I would wait for the new series and get something with 2gb of vram.

At 1080p, the 570 is more than enough and should play those game quite well. The 580, although a very powerful card, is not worth the price when comparing the performance. You can always OC the 570. (I am assuming you are playing at 1080p)
