ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS 760G Socket AM3+ Motherboard, ive heard that it doesnt support 125 watt CPUs, and im guessing the FX8320 is 125 watts because ive upgraded and my pc wouldnt power on, the RAM is brand new as well, and the psu worked fine before i upgraded everything. my specs are:
ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS 760G Socket AM3+ Motherboard
4GB DDR3 1600 MGHz RAM
250 SATA X2
if it isnt, would the GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+ AMD 760G HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard work with it? i can never seem to find where they say how many watts the cpu can be, even though they say the FX cpus work with them. thanks in advance guys
For updating the BIOS you need a supported CPU or you can buy a BIOS chip flashed with the latest version and rplace the board's one.
Regarding the 125 to 95W, since the CPU is listed on the Support List, it should work, unless there's an error on the list. You can try cotacting ASUS Support. See what they say.
If using the FX 8320 with this board, the CPU requires the 1001 BIOS version.
If the board is a new one, or the BIOS has not been updated, there's a barcode sticker on the motherboard. The last 4 digits on that sticker stand for the BIOS version.
