Switching to UEFI Boot Mode?

Hey all,

So I have just noticed that my Windows 8 Pro 64-bit boots with BIOS mode (typing bcdedit in command prompt showed that the bootpath is winload.exe instead of .efi). Now I was kinda surprised when I saw that since when entering BIOS I can see UEFI SETUP UTILITY in huge letters in de upper part of the screen.
I read that you can switch the boot mode to UEFI by changing Legacy to UEFI mode in the BIOS. However, that option is nowhere to be found in my BIOS/UEFI Setup Utility.

Is there any way to switch the bootmode to UEFI? Do I have to format the PC and install Windows 8 in UEFI mode to be able to do that? If yes, how do I install it in UEFI mode?

Thanks in advance,

John
