Presently got a 5.1 amp optically linked to PS2, sounds great.
But...
Thinking of upgrading the amp to one with Pro Logic II.

Can anyone tell me if there's a significant difference in gaming sounds when
using Pro Logic II enabled games...

Actually its great.
But next gen consoles are around the corner and I guess 5.1 DD or DTS will
be standard so...
In games like MGS3 you can hear where guards and bosses are at.
Also convenient in Socom where you can hear where the shots comes from.

Cheers.
Think I'll probably do it, I'm not about to buy the next gen console - at
least for 3-4 years so this new amp will probably do the job!

Yes it's really worth it. I'm often quite amazed at how well PL II works,
considering it comes from a regular stereo source.
Sounds are positioned around you. So for instance you can hear if someone's
shooting at you from behind and that's helpful in a game :)

PLII is really quite a marvel in my opinion. All that from analog sources.
Amazing.

You should consider an amp with Pro Logic IIx, it's the new 7.1 version of
PL II.
