:hello: all,

I've been perusing Tom's Hardware for 5 years but am new to this Forum & am about done upgrading my PC gaming rig. My Question is: What do you gurus think of this build? See any significant, bottlenecks or impeding limitations here? I'll be playing Battlefield 3 a good bit with it. Here it is:

Intel Core i5-2500K Processor 3.3GHz 6 MB Cache Socket LGA1155

Biostar TZ68A+ LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard (I use my MB's onboard Audio & Bose satellite speakers & a sub-woofer)

Corsiar Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 4850 512MB DDR3 2PORT Dvi-i/tv Out 256BIT :ouch:

OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" 60GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (My OS & BF3 installed here)

WD 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Hard Drive

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler

Antec Three Hundred Gaming Case (includes one rear 120mm & one top 140mm Tricool fan)

Antec BP550 Plus 550W ATX12V V2.2 Modular Power Supply

3 of: Kingwin 120x120mm Long Life Bearing Blue LED Case Fan (two as front intake, one as side intake)

Vantec SP-FC70-BL Spectrum System Fan Card with Dual Adjustable 70mm UV LED Fans (Blue)

SilverStone AEROSLOT Maximum Vented PCI Slot Covers

SILVERSTONE SDP08 3.5 to 2 X 2.5-Inch Bay Converter

Hanns G 19" widescreen monitor

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS

Thanks for your feedback!

its not a particularly good way of spending money if you want to improve gaming performance .

Your 4850 is an old card without the grunt to run BF3 at high resolutions and detail so the money you spent on cpu + mb + [way too much] RAM is wasted
With your small monitor its way way overkill , and an even greater waste of money , but the 4850 will be OK , but still a little on the average side of the line

Thanks for yer input! Oops. I corrected my HDD entry.

What other video cards out there would complement this new rig then? I'm kinda' attached to my HD 4850, as it served me so well since Oct. 2008. :ange:

I just watched a few YouTube videos of 3D Gaming setups. Are AMD's Eyefinity and Nvidia's 3D Vision Surround the norm now? Do most people play with 2, 3, or 6 monitors now? That just seems like a huge waste of electricity and $$$, IMO. Does 3D Gaming provide a huge advantage over the standard 1 monitor? Would 2 monitors require 2 GPUs & would that work? :??:

Thanks again!

Drop Biostar .... If you are convinced you need Z68 (and I'm thinking you don't), I'd get an Gen3 board such as the ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3

http://www.ukgamingcomputers.co.uk/difference-between-h67-p67-z68-and-h61-chipsets-a-22.html

Make sure it's the low profiloe Vengeance and drop to 8GB for gaming

The Radeon HD 4850 ain't gonna make you happy in BF3 .... I'd recommend a 900MHz 560 or 6750 at minimum

I'd not get an SSD smaller than 120/128 GB ...Crucial M4, Vertex 3, Corsair Perf 3

Get the Illusion (Antec 300 w/ all the fans preinstalled)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129066

Antec BP series is not a good choice....I'd get an XFX Core Edition 750 or better yet 850 for same price

Forget the slot covers and fan card, not necessary in Illusion

Id get Windows 7 64 bit professional....Ultimate offers BitLocker which I don't think ya need..... Home Premium is fine if ya have less than 5 PC's at home.
