Would it work if i put a 1866 frequency RAM on the Asrock Z77 Extreme 3 or asus p8z77-v lk mobo?

Also, would it be okay if i use different RAM sticks in my mobo? I have 2 G.Skill Ripjaws X with 1600 frequency and Im planning on getting the Ballistix Tactical Tracer which has a frequency of 1866. Would it still work?

Yeah the 1866 RAM should work fine for those motherboards. Also you can use different sticks of ram on your mobo but I wouldn't recommend it.

1. The timings of the RAM will be different from eachover.
2. The speed of the Ballistix Tactical Tracer will be dropped down from 1866 to 1600Mhz automatically by your system so it would be a waste of money. Best thing to do is buy a full kit of the new ram you want.

Hope I helped :)

But it would still work right?

Well, come to think of it, I think I'll just sell these Ripjaws X and get a full kit of the Tactical Tracer

Hi mate yeah ofcourse it'll work fine. But like I said , would be an absolute waste basically putting the TT ram into your ystem and mixing them with the Ripjaws as the speed of them gets put down. Good idea of selling them and getting a full kit of TT RAM. Also check that your motherboard & cpu support that speed of ram etc.

Thanks
