Gaming struggles!

I have just purchased a new pc with all the compatabilty to play the total war series it runs: Rome and medieval II but when loading for a battle in napoleon total war it lags out when I enter a battle is there anything I need or could do to solve this problem !??

its not a brand new pc no, i purchased it second hand what would i need to buy to deal with these problems and how much am i looking to spend considering the pc runs medieval and roma perfectly fine?

How much did you buy this PC for? If more than $250 your were ripped.

You'd probably be looking at a new parts for the core basically except the HDD, probably $300 or so is a rough estimate, that's if you choose to do it yourself. $250 maybe is a good price mark.

i purchased the pc for 150$ what comonents would i be looking to get for it ive been looking at the GeForce 280 gtx graphics card?
also if a computer is able to run 'crysis' succesfully after being refurblished is a 100$ a good deal

Ehh.... The 280 is good, but it runs hot and eats up a lot of power. I'd suggest going for these parts assuming you have $300 budget.
