Just built a new system with ASRock H77M motherboard, in which I could not get Windows 7 installed until I moved HDD to SATA2 port. Is it possible that I have defective motherboard or is there some setting that could cause the SATA3 port not to work. After I installed OS using SATA2 port I tries moving drive to SATA3 port, but during boot it gets read error message.

Is everything enabled in BIOS? If so and this happens, send it back...
I am not sure the motherboard is really defective, because I was able to install Ubuntu with HDD connected to SATA 3 port. I have seen post on internet where others were having the same problems.
