Processor Recommendation ?

Hey, :hello:

I just wanted to know what processor would you guys recommend for me i don't know much about processors.

My current spes are:

INTEL PENTIUM G620 2.60Ghz (Sandy Bridge)
SEAGATE 250GB 3.5" HDD 8MB Cache
COOLER MASTER CHASSIS CM ELITE 370 (Casing)
HP DVDRW 24X SATA
COOLER MASTER GX SERIES 450W
GTX 550Ti (EVGA)
4GB DDR-III
INTEL DH61WW (Motherboard)

The reason i asked this is that my GTX550Ti is not giving me the performance what it should even the games that want lower GPU are not running well on my PC then i monitor the usage of my CPU and GPU when i run the game (BLACK OPS) the CPU usage just shoots to 100% and it was not coming down a bit and my GPU usage was just about 40-50% at most some times even 30% so i think my processor is bottlenecking with my GPU, i do not play much games just regular work but i play modern games just for fun at medium-High Graphics so i do not want to waste my money in buying a high end processor because i am not a regular gamer i just want to buy a CPU which will not bottleneck with my GPU and they both will run balanced and my GPU can perform at its peak. I am on a tight budget i don't think that i can afford a quad core and i also don't think that i would be needing that as i am not a regular gamer and i don't want to pay for something i don't need, so what would you guys recommend for me? and also i do not want to upgrade anything else not PSU not GPU or anything, just processor.

Thanks in advance for any Help :)

Hello prince01;

What's your monitor resolution?

I recommend you sell the g620 first on craigslist or anandtech and see how much you get for it. Then list a budget to work with.

GTX 550Ti is a good match for a 1366x768 monitor.
I'm kinda surprised that G620 isn't performing better.
I would have guessed it's a pretty well balanced system for a budget build.

Was it someone around here who recommended that combination?

no no one recommended that i just bought it assuming that its enough for me for what kind of stuff i do with my PC but i did not know that 550 would not work good with G620 or may be somethings wrong with my PC :(  i just bought it every thing is in warranty i just bought it 2 months ago every thing is new. i don't know what to do

Have you been checking your CPU temps while gaming?

CPU-z use CPU-z to confirm the CPU is running at 2.6Ghz while gaming. (and don't be concerned if it's at another speed while not gaming)
HWMonitor use HWMonitor to check your temps. It will tell you the highest temp reached during a gaming session.

i just checked my CPU temps with core temp (in windows 7 gedget) its around 55-60 degrees is it okay?

Those are good temps.

Give this performance test a whirl.

PassMark PerformanceTest - http://www.passmark.com/products/pt.htm

I already have done a test with 3dmark05 and it ran 3 GPU tests and 2 CPU tests, in all 3 GPU tests the fps was about 100-200 fps and in CPU tests the fps was about 8-15 at most and it goes to 20 for 6-7secs and then drop to 8 again what does that mean?

Not sure what that means.
Passmark will let you compare the performance with other G620 systems.

OK, that confirms you're operating at 'full performance' for your CPU. (And GPU).

It's pretty much a choice of sticking with what you have or upgrading.

Have you run MW3 on medium graphics? Looked over some of the gaming forums & guides at tuning game performance?

no i haven't but i have ran GTA IV with my system and i was playing it maxed out but just the view dist. and detail dist. was at 30 and shadow was high execpt that every thing was at very high and the in-game benchmark give me the average 50fps and with every thing set to maxed it game me like 25fps, but my actual actual problem is that my GPU usage is not as much as it should go while playing but CPU usage is not coming down from 99-100. And when i was playing GTA IV i didn't checked my usage that time and i have deleted it so i can't check it again i only check it with Black OPS because its the only game i have right now in my PC may be there is something wrong with Black OPS if my processor is fine

may be i should stick with the system i already have because i just bought it 2 months ago i don't think upgrading would be genius decision right now, Just confirm me that my CPU won't hold back my GPU and i can take full advantage of my GPU with that CPU i would be playing games like Batman arkham asylum and arkham city and Deus ex HR and mafia II and all assassin's creed games etc, so what would you say can i take full advantage of my graphics card with G620 or not?

Running games maxed out with a budget build isn't always possible.
What you want to do is balance the graphics with reasonable framerates.
So you can get some that looks good while it's still fun to play.
