Smudge on new AMD CPU

I recently bought a package of components from Dabs which included an AMD x6 1090T Black Edition. When it arrived I noticed there was a smudge on the CPU. Picture: http://i39.tinypic.com/raqeds.jpg

Will it work ok, or should I send it back ? Thanks for the help !

if the box was sealdthen i wouldnt worry. if it was not then it's most likely been used and sent back then sent to you so i'd refue it and return it for a sealed box

It looks like a water stain, and should be easy to clean off. If the processor works then I would not worry. If this came in a sealed box then that is bad on AMD's part.

I think you keep it.
If you have some isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits you can see if it removes the smudge.
If you dont have any - don't worry. It's not worth running out to grab some.

Ok I think I will keep it and try to see if I can remove it before I build in a few weeks. Anyway, thanks for the help !

There was a thread on this a while back. I will see if I can find it, but it was pointing at AMD quality control shipping visable defects.
