Good graphics card for multiple displays?

I am planning on building a machine for my dad for his birthday. He doesn't game at all so I was wondering if there was a good gpu that supports multiple displays (2-3) very well. Probably around $100-150

Any ATI card that supports eyefinity. For example, any 6770:

That's just one example, but all of them support 3 monitors.

NOTE: For any monitor connected to any ATI GPU beyond the 2nd monitor, it must be connected via the Displayport connector on the video card. If your monitor doesn't use a displayport on its end, you MUST USE an ACTIVE displayport converter, not a passive one! If you use a passive one with 3 monitors connected, only 2 monitors will display and the 3rd will not work.

So I have to get a display port adapter? Is there a amd card that has dual dvi with an hdmi? Or do I definitly have to use displayport?

you HAVE to use a displayport for any monitor connected beyond the 2nd, no matter the configuration of the first 2 monitors. Examples:

I have one VGA, one DVI, the 3rd must use displayport

I have one HDMI, one DVI, the 3rd must use displayport

I have one DVI, one DVI, the 3rd must use displayport.

Hope this helps! REMEMBER, you have to use an ACTIVE displayport adapter, not a passive one. I can't stress that enough.

Where would i get an active display port adapter?
