80c in prime 95 help

So i tried running prime95, and left it to run for 5 min before checking the temps and it goes 81c @@
Did I permanently damage my athlon II x4? max temp of cpu is supposed to be 71c
Idle temp right now is 48c

Your heatsink either is not mounted on properly, or your case sucks.

You should take the heatsink off, Re apply the thermal paste and then put the heatsink back on and make sure it is properly mounted

Ya im planning to replace the cpu cooling
but did going past that 71c limit damage the cpu and motherboard?

It shouldn't have, modern cpu's will shut themselves off if a certain temperatures is reached.
