Hello all. I am looking to get a new PSU but need some advice on one to get. I posted the specs on the bottom. Can you tell me how many watts I would need? Would you also recommend a modular PSU for a first time builder? I do not plan on going SLI. I also posted the computer case just to see if it will fit.

EVGA GTX 570
i5-2500k HD 3000
Asus Maximus Gene-Z/GEN 3 LGA 1155
COSAIR Vengence 8GB
HAF 932 Advanced

We can't see your specs.
List your cpu/gpu/and case.

Sorry for that. I thought I posted the specs on my public list. Anyway, I edited my original post with the specs.

That looks pretty nice. I plan on overclocking my GPU and possibly my CPU. Would that require more watts?

The review i linked uses this as a testbed.
Our test system is based on a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 system. This setup is overclocked to 3.75 GHz. Next to that we have energy saving functions disabled for this motherboard and processor (to ensure consistent benchmark results). On average we are using roughly 50 to 100 Watts more than a standard PC due to higher CPU clock settings, water-cooling, additional cold cathode lights etc.
I think you'll be fine on a SB platform.

So I would be fine with just 620W? Now is that the minimum recommended for my computer or would going a little higher be better? I would rather be on the safe side and pay a little more if you recommend it.

You'll be fine imo.
Your platform is an energy efficient SB using a 95W cpu.
That testbed states it uses a 100 extra watts.
It still only uses @400W full pull everything.
You do realize they are using an oc'd 130W cpu.
Read it.

Ok thanks a lot for the info. Other people told me a 700+ would be fine. You saved me at least $70. Once again thanks.
