Hello,
i just built my new rig yesterday using the amd fx-4100 at 3.6ghz. i was curious about my core temp so i installed CPUID. it's telling me that each core is running at 5 c at idle, when im at full load playing a game each core gets to 23c. i figured you would multiply that number by 4 to get your full core temp is this true?

nope, thats the temp. idle temps seem a bit low, what heatsink or temp in the room? mine is usually 9c, but that could just be ambient temp difference.

so would i only base my temp off of what one core is reading, not all 4 added together??

no, CPU-Z is giving your total core temp not individual core temps

5C idle, are you using your computer in Antarctica? Forget all those programs, get HWmonitor, works better than anything else.

i am using HWmonitor. Right now it's telling me Core#0 (7c) Core#1 (7c) Core#2 (7c) Core#3 (7c) is that normal?? when im playing a game for instance each core rises to 23c.

with that cooler, yes that is normal.

What does the motherboards control centre say, that software is best utilized with the boards thermal sensors, if that also gives 7 degrees idle and 23 load then you may have dodgy sensors. No air cooler will get you that low temps.
