CPU cooling options

I just recently had my gaming rig built

my rig atm:

Asrock Z68 Etreme3
Antec 750W
i5 2500K
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB
500GB HDD
GTX 560Ti
COOLER MASTER Elite 430

my builder said i should of gotten a copper cpu cooler instead of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 aka COOLER MASTER Hyper 212

since aluminium overheats pretty fast.

if so what copper cpu cooler should i get?
i advised him i was planning on decking out my case with more fans as well to do an SLI later one when i get the cash.

am i fine with what i have or what should i upgrade asap?

  1. I do not recommend you getting a new one... That CM is one of the best low budget for performance it creates... Your builder just want you to waste more money...

Look at this all copper heat sink:
    http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/cpu/true-copper/product_cpu_cooler_t_copper.html
It performs the same, the only different is that the the regular TRUE HeatSink is cheaper and probably few degrees better... Aluminum cools down faster awhile Copper absorb heat better... Wonder why heat pipes are copper and aluminum are used for fins...

EDIT: Check this comparison for a lower price of a Copper Heat Pipes and Aluminum fins

Some folks just like to tell people "what they should have got" and never bother to even ask what mission you're trying to accomplish.

I've got my 2500k OC to 4.5 with around a 1.3x vcore and stress testing never puts it above 60c. I'm using the 212 Evo, which is one of the best values on the market.

So....what is your mission? How are your temps right now under stress testing? Answer that for yourself before you go spending any more money.
  3. 'aluminium heats up faster than copper' is utter rubbish.

copper does conduct better than aluminium true, but this then just affects how quicklly heat is drawn away from the target. Neither of them 'overheat'.

+1 to above is it cool enough for you?
  4. main purpose for this rig is gaming, right now im just doing WoW till later this year when new games come out.

    temps are at 30-40.

i think even with new games i should be fine with this cooler and multiple fans.
  5. you'll be fine then.
