Which performs better and is faster, intel core i7 with 5400 rpm or i5 with 7200 rpm? I can't afford i7 with 7200.

More about : 5400rpm 7200rpm

Are you talking about hard drives and processors? There is very little information in your post. Right now HDD's are extremely expensive...

We need more info. Also, hard disk speed correlates with how fast it can read and write files. The faster the disk, the faster the computer when it comes to opening documents, transferring documents, listening to music, etc. However, most modern 5400 RPM drives are pretty quick.

Processor speeds deal with how fast it can process data, run programs, etc...

What are your needs anyway? Gaming? Basic computing? Is this a desktop or a laptop?

From my minimal understanding, intel i7 processor is one of the fastest processors and 7200rpm is the fastest rpm hard drive. I often see the processor i7 combined with 5400 rpm hard drive and i5 with 7200 rpm. Ideally I would think a i7 processor with a 7200 rpm hard drive would be best. Is it more important to have the fastest processor or the fastest hard drive? The most important function I will be using it for is editing & manipulating photographs. I have Adobe InDesign Suite which includes Photoshop and several other design programs.
Thanks

Whoa Horsey...I haven't a clue what overclock on air or 2600k chips is. I ended up getting a Lenovo Edge E520 -i7-2630QM 4GB 500GB 7200rpm W7P from Computer Upgrade King. What do you think?
