Motherboard doesn't install with I/O Plate installed?

It fits into the mounting points fine without it but when I put it in, it refuses to match up with the mounting points.

Any help?

I have had to come at the plate at an angle before and "slide" into it, changing the angle as I go.

Is this an Asus board with the "padded" I/O plate.

thats coz your I/O panel sheilds grounding pins are pushing your board causing it to miss alignment. try pushing them back to ease out the pressure on the board. refer this image: http://postimage.org/image/l1r96s595/
