Approximate Purchase Date: Black Friday (maybe sooner)

Budget Range: $600 - $850

Usage: Gaming (Skyrim and Star Wars), surfing internet, watching movies

Parts Not Required: Might try Linux so no OS atm. I guess I have another mouse/keyboard somewhere...

Preferred Website: newegg.com

Country: US

Parts Preferences: None

Overclocking: No

SLI/Crossfire: No

Additional Comments: I stole a lot of this build from a previous post I found but since I'm not planning to overclock I'm not sure if the Power Supply needs to be that amazing. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to computers (this is my first attempt to build a computer) so if something doesn't seem right / won't work together (like my monitor) please say something.

I'll change quite a few things in that build tbh.

1. Linux and GPU drivers don't go together. AMD or Nvidia.

2. You'll want a better quality PSU.

CPU: $140 Phenom II X4 970 - 500Mhz extra for 15 bucks ;)

Mobo: $90 The one in your link.

RAM: $45 G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB

HDD: $100 Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

or GPU: $270 ASUS Radeon HD 6950 2GB

PSU: $80 CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 - Keeps your xfire option open with the PSU in my link.

Case: $40 COOLER MASTER Elite 430

HSF: $25 COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus

Total: $790 after rebates plus shipping.

EDIT: Do you also need a Monitor within $800 overall?

AMD's website says the requirement for the Radeon HD 6950 is a 500W PSU.

So a 650 Watt quality PSU with 50 odd Amps on it's +12V Rail will be good enough. If you want some extra headroom, you can get the 750TX V2 at 100 odd bucks anyways.

Actually, the OP explicitly mentioned - "No SLI/XFire". So he should just get the $65 Seasonic S12II 520.

@Azn, to the best of my knowledge, the ECO PSU's from Antec doesn't come with all the connectors with the assumption that you already have some of 'em lying 'round the house. So they're supposedly saving the environment by scrimping on 50 cent cables. Works for some, but doesn't work for new, 1st time builders :non:
