Worth the Upgrade or Wait?

Hey guys, i was just wondering, i recently got a bit of money (and by a bit i mean about 500 dollars) and was wondering if you think it would be worth it to upgrade my rig or wait for ivy bridge

AMD Phenom II X4 840 @ 3.2 GHz
Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P Mobo
Galaxy GTX 570
1 TB HDD
8 Gigs of DDR3 @ 1333 MHz
Ultra X4 1050W PSU
Thermaltake V3 Black Edition

That's my current rig right there. Is it worth upgrading to a 2500k along with an Asus Z68 gen 3 motherboard (i plan to SLI in the near future) or wait it out until ivy bridge? Also another reason why i want to upgrade my CPU and mobo is because i have a bunch of other old semi decent parts laying around and my mother wants me to build her a computer that doesnt run windows 98 so what do you guys think? upgrade to the 2500k (or any other suggestions) or just wait it out until ivy bridge? And a side note, is there any big difference between

That is a perfectly good system and as ivybridge should be here pretty soon you should just wait

Ivy Definitely Ivy. If you have enough money left a NVIDIA kepler card would be good. Its a shame to have a 1050wtt psu and no GPU to fully use it

It's a good idea to have a PS that's 2x your needs. They operate in the "easy" zone and never get close to stressing the components.

kepler will probably lower power than fermi, he's already got a 570, another one is the only real option for a boost worth the money.

Unless you have a game or other application that is not performing to your satisfaction, you have no reason to upgrade, at all. If, otoh, performance in something is lacking, let us know what it is please.
