I believe AMD uses HD6450 graphics which has been proven to be much better than Intel's 3000 graphic series. I think the A8 uses HD6550 as well.

In terms of performance the Intel HD 3000 is basically equal to a desktop Radeon HD 5450.

The graphics core in the Llano A4 thru A8 APUs are basically equivalent to about a Radeon HD 5550 thru HD 5570.

The Intel HD 4000 graphics core in the upcoming Ivy Bridge is estimated by Anandtech to be around 60% more powerful than the Intel HD 3000 graphics core. That puts the Intel HD 4000 at about the same level as the desktop Radeon HD 5550; perhaps slight faster.
