I am going to build a new PC with:

- i7 2600k
- Corsair h80
- Asus v8z68-V Pro
- G.skill 8GB 1600MHz
- Thermaltake Toughpower grand 750w

I will be using this PC for gaming in 1920x1080, and will most likely upgrade to SLI in the future. The games that i will be playing are fps like MW3, BF3 and also will be playing minecraft. I live in Australia and the hawk is currently priced at $265 and the 570 is about $400 or so. I have thought about using AMD cards but have heard that nVidia cards are the way to go.

Solution
For price vs performance AMD is the way to go, but for your question the 570 has much better performance than 560ti and it is more expensive too. If the 570 is not out of your budget go for it. The equivalent AMD for 570 is 6970 and for 560ti is 6950.

Would it be worth while going the 6950 and unlocking it to a 6970?

For the best bet there you would have to go for a reference card, but it is not a done deal. I would suggest to set yourself a budget for your graphics card and the go for the one with the most performance for the price.

You other alternative is to wait till the end of the month. Some of the new HD 7xxx series is due for release and there should be some nice price drops. Then you should be able to get a better card for less.
