Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz better than i7 2700k? what is the performance in games?

i think the only real advantage is the pci-e bandwidth that you get on the 2011 socket cpu's i think its somewhere near 40 lanes compared to the i5's 16... so theres less chance of bottlenecks with higher end gfx cards in tri sli and tri fire configs.

so i5 2500k is still the best cpu for the money? (for gaming)

for the money, very much so... especially if your only gonna ever use 1 or 2 cards at most.
btw theres no such thing as a pointless thread, as answering questions for people who dont know what they are looking for is the point of the forum...

Well yh I was a bit out of order but its best really just to google benchmarks
