Hello,
I can boot into safe mode all working. Normal boot the desktop hangs after I enter my pass word. If I press esc when loading it seems to go past that to load the icons but they dont work and a message box is on screen that says
Windows Installer... preparing to install and at this point nothing happens.

If you have recently tried to install windows or repair windows, it may have been interrupted. Boot from he windows disk and select repair, this should fix your problem.

Thank you.

No done nothing, I was using office, internet etc so quite heavy use and it just stoped and problem since then. Done maleware byte found trojan cleaned it off. Registy mechanic reading slow performance run the fix and aftwrds high perfomance. But desktop won't launch.
Its as if there is a prgramme trying to lunch in the background that frezzes the whole thing. Red light on tower does not flicker from that pointon just static. Checked in safe mode that explorer.exe was running.
Q:Is booting from the windows disc that simple... sorry to sound dumb!
Thank you very much for your time.

Thank you. Everything functions in safe mode, internet, office the lot.
Done umpteen system restors to different times but it comes up with "unable to restore" every time.
I run WXP pro.
Thank you very much for your time
