Depends! What apps do you use? Anything is particular you want? You may be able to get away with an athlon x3 and onboard video, which would be quite cheap. Do you do any gaming? Do you want an SSD? All important questions.
If you could be a little more specific about what you want, I think we can get you something that will work quite well.
I'm probably not going to play any games on it. No graphics intensive applications either. I just want to watch movies in high quality (1920x1080) and use it for daily internet surfing, Micrsoft Word/excel etc.
I might just get an SSD instead of a HDD and use my external Hard drive for storage since hard drives are so expensive right now. I don't have a preference between intel or AMD, I just want it to be fast.
I will need:
GPU (I think an onboard will do...)
Ram (at least 4GB)
DVD Drive (got one for $17)
SSD/HDD (depends on the price)
OK, here's what I got. I went a little above and beyond, adding a 120GB SSD (which should be plenty big) and an AMD 5570 graphics card (light gaming, can max Source games and whatnot. I know you don't game, but it's nice to have the option)
