After much thought and research, I am now more inclined into buying a graphics card from Asus DirectCU Series, I was thinking of getting x2 6950 but I only want a single card.

The following list shows in descending order the best cards withing budget but I´m looking to save as much as I can due to upgrading my display, cpu cooling, sound system, gaming mouse/keyboard/headset

Asus Direct CU II GTX 580   782 MHz Core / 1002 MHz Memory  £376 / $593 / €430
Asus Direct CU II GTX 570   742 MHz Core / 950 MHz Memory    £266 / $420 / €304
Asus Direct CU II HD 6970   890 MHz Core / 1375 MHz Memory   £290 / $458 / €331
Asus Direct CU II HD 6950   810 MHz Core / 1250 MHz Memory   £212 / $334 / €242

The Asus DirectCU is a good cooler but the problem with the higher end cards liek these is that the cooler is so big it takes up 3 slots.Which unless you have a certain Asus mobo it is impossible to SLI.

The Twin Frozr from MSI is just as good but it only takes up 2 slots.I would reccomend getting that over the Asus version.

Well if your really set on getting the Asus GTX570 go for it.The temps are really good. Also to answer your question the GTX570 is probably the best.As you said it competes with the 6970 which is a more expensive card and the price point is just really good.Something to think about tho a 6950 crossfire performs just a little slower than a GTX570 SLI making it a better option if your on a budget.
