Bitlocker password recovery

i was not able to copy or save the password , how can i open my external hard drive. My laptop was reformatted. and i lost all my files. ty jun

If someone were able to post a way to recover your files without knowing the original password, then I for one would loose all faith in Bitlocker's ability to keep my data confidential. What's the point in using it in the first place if there's a way for anyone to get at the data?
