This is my first time EVER building a computer. Before I've only ever replaced components on other computers. Anyways my components are as follows

Intel Pentium g860
Seagate Barracuda ES ST3500630NS - 500 gb
LG 24x cd-rom drive
coolmax zx series 500w power supply (will replace it someday when I have more money)
Asus P8H61-M LX3 R2.0 motherboard.

All the sata connectors are in proper place. I have a windows 7 boot disc in the CD drive.

So.... Why am I getting the "no bootable device is detected" error? I really have nowhere else to go to look for help :(

Solution
Hi, Can you check with a different bootable CD/DVD? There are cases where the Windows disc is not bootable. Is the DVD drive listed in BIOS?

I'm sorry, I'm completely new to this. How can I check if the DVD drive is listed in the BIOS?

It's a very fancy BIOS with graphics so I'm not used to navigating it.

Oh how stupid of me! There was a second set of SATA cables (small ones) that came with my motherboard and THAT was what my computer needed recognize the hard drive and DVD drive *slaps forehead*.
