Cannot display optimum resolution

Hi all,

I recently got a Dell E228WFP(optimum resolution is 1680 1050) monitor. I'm tring to connet my Compaq 6910p laptop(ATI MOBILITY RADEON X2300) via VGA. I update the video card driver to the latest and restart my computer for several times. However,I could still only get a resolution of 1280 800 for the LCD monitor. I really dont know what the problem is. I used to connet my computer to a Acer monitor which is 24 inch and the optimum resolution is 1920 1080. and I worked well.

Is there anyone familiar with the kind of problem?

I think I've had this problem but I can't remember how I fixed it...
Have you tried adjusting the settings at CCC?
How about driver sweeper? Tried that yet?
