so last night i was building my new comp
everything was going good until it was time to turn it on
when i press the power button, the system starts up, there is 1 short beep, and then nothing. no video output at all.
also, the DRAM LED comes on when i first turn on the system, and goes off a second later
i have tried placing both DIMMS by themselves in every slot, no luck

The LED going off is good. That means that there were no errors with the RAM (pg. 2-18 of the mobo manual). Do you have a VGA cable to connect to the integrated graphics port on the mobo and see if you get anything.

Oh, i found the problem a few minutes ago
my video card was DOA, and it was installed in the mobo
this stopped the onboard video from displaying even though the DVI cable was unplugged into mobo
im going to send in the video card for RMA.

yeah, its ok
this was my first build, the parts actually came in 2 weeks ago, then i had to wait to get a new HDD as the one i had got a broken SATA data port. Luckily, i can start setting up the system right now, just wont be able to do any gaming yet :)
