i have a ASUS M5A97 Pro rev1 Board with 1604 Bios, equipped with a piledriver FX 8350 and 4x2 GB Kingston Hyperx 1600 modules (KHX1600C9AD3_2G).
I am a little confused, why the RAM is detected as 1333 MHZ modules from the BIOS. The CPU should support 1833 mhz modules out of the box, as should the board.
To achieve the Memory Stock Clock i have to set it manually in the Bios.
Is it supposed to be like that or is something wrong with my setup ?
Hi, It's normal. The system detects the SPD (default settings) which is 1333 MHz. The manufacturers advertise the XMP speed and not the SPD. For marketing purposes, I guess. You can install CPU-Z and you'll see the SPD and the XMP settings there.
Yes the output of cpu-z is another thing i was wondering about. so basically the Modules are not native 1600 mhz ?
Is this the case with all modules that are advertised as 1600 clocked ?
I mean i don't have encountered any problem yet.
Prime95 and superpi doesnt see any errors and i was running my 965 BE for about a year on that clock,
but then i thought it
was a limitation of the Memory Controller detecting it at 1333 MHz.
one other thing:
when i open CPU-Z it doesn't show the DC Mode, its just empty albeit its set to unganged in the BIOS.
