in your experience with GTA4 maybe? I haven't upgraded in forever and have been missing out on gaming on the PC. Now is the perfect time b/c all my favorite games are coming out (Skyrim, X:Rebirth, GTA5 announced)....there are still games i havent played since i dont own a ps3/360, mainly want to play GTA4, lol. The one im using can barely handle San Andreas.

im running a 3.4ghz intel P4/Nvidia 6800GT/1.5 gb ram? or maybe just 1gb <- just a fyi to see where im coming from :)

time for upgrade lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP

Budget Range: 1200-1700? (subject to debate, def no more than 2000)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming

Parts Not Required: need all

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com is where i bought my last one

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: i went with intel/nvidia, looks like they are kicking ass still iirc

Overclocking: Yes, i am very much the set it and forget it type when it comes to this, dont even know how anymore.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe, if needed, more likely than not

Monitor Resolution: unknown, dunno jack about them

Additional Comments: Quieter the better, no stupid LED lights, think modern and not so box-like case?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i just want something that will run GTA5 on max or close to it that it wont matter, if this is even possible. Should probably include Win7 OS in the price.

1.) Also need a basic keyboard, decent mouse, and ONE monitor as i have an old 4:3 ratio for internet. I dont know what monitor to get, ill go to best buy tonight to see how big is too big, what is normal? what is a good price to awesomeness ratio? recommendations?

2.) Looking for reliability and futureproof til at least GTA5 max settings. Meaning should i get a 580 for skyrim atm then get another for SLI later? Two 570's now? Can i even buy the same 580 for later? (i have no SLI experience)

3.) what are the cons of SLI? i know its like 50% or so improvement, but compatibility wise? (doing research now on toms)

4.) Should i get a SSD for my OS? Cons of SSDs?? (again, doing research on toms) Trying to make it as cheap as possible atm, ill probably never go over 500gb anyways, pretty much need space for OS and Skyrim right now. I can get a storage HDD later.

5.)How much RAM is too much nowadays? most people get 8gb, why not 16gb?

6.) Lastly, for personal reasons, i might want to wait a few months to get this anyways. I have a free $6000 and nothing to do until like mid-january when i start my job again. I have no financial responsibilities atm as i live at mom's house, but i will have to set aside some money for future rent in a new apartment so rent x2 starting out, and money for food, cellphone, and internet later, and like $150 for XMas gifts and another 150 for games. And lastly, my car has been sitting out for quite some time and will likely need at least new tires and maybe some repairs. I will get paid weekly so if i have to live in my car or squat on someones couch for a week i can, ill get paid ~1400/wk. Anyways, its definitely not responsible to consider buying this computer now, but i really have nothing to do for the next 2 months.....i could really use this period for some 24/7 gaming as ill be working 6 days/wk later on. What would you do in my situation? Please criticize me if this is really stupid, i really need that b/c im 85% sure im going to do this atm and rising quickly.

I could always wait, but this would be a bigger waste of time not to get the PC.....oh the pain im in atm, so torn!
