I am doing my first build. I was pretty set on getting either the I7 2700k or the waiting for the I7 3770k Ivy Bridge. Intel decided to make the decision more complicated for me by releasing the 3820 a couple of days ago. Now I am trying to decide between 3820, or 3770. I know the Ivy bridge will be cheaper to build as it will be an 1155 platform and the 3820 is an 2011. I am just trying to figure out what the difference in performance will be and if justifies the cost? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What are you going to be doing with the new build? If you're making a build for gaming, there's not much of a reason to get any cpu better than an i5-2500k.

For a new build I'd recommend waiting for Ivy bridge anyways though :)

sorry for gatecrashing the thread im also going to be building a new pc soon, so the i5 2500k is this the best processor for gaming? better than i7?
