  1. Thank you BigMack70, i saw you were using the PhenomII X6 too nice :) .
Since i'm still a novice will you be able to help me build a good gamer budget desktop and it would be nice if i can get around 50+ FPS for Battlefield3 game.
I will give you my planning perks:
Mobo: Asus M5A 99x EVO socket AM3+990X ATX AMD.
    chipset: phenomII x4 980.
Video card:Diamond HD 6750 PE51 GSB AMD RADEON, 1024MB GDDR5 buy two and pair it into crossfireX.
RAM: 4x4=16 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz Corsair vengeance or 4x4=16 GB DDR3 1866 Mhz Corsair Vengeance, which one is better?
HDD: Western digital Caviar Green 2TB intellipower SATA 6GB/s 3.5" internal HD.
Power Supply: ANTEC current PRO HCP-750 ATX modular power supply.
Cooling system: FRIO Overclocking ready intel-AMD universal CPU Cooler or CoolermasterV6 GT universal CPU cooler, which one is better?
Case: Full tower ANTEC DARK FLEET DF-85.

    Now coming to the questions:
1.will the above perks good enough to produce 50+FPS on BF3?
if not what perk should be upgrade? the mobo or the VGA card?
2.with the above perks what the maximum overclock speed i can get?
3.If we should compare between the above perks and intel core i5 second generation build with same budget which one is the best?

FYI my budget around $ 1200 to $1500.

    Thank you.
  2. If your budget is above $700 go with an INTEL build.

Depends on the task. If you're asking for gaming, then the Phenom 980 and the i5 are your winners. The fx-4100 is closer to the phenom 980 than the fx-8150 is to the i5, though.

  4. With that kind of budget there's no need to look at entry level CPUs and the crippled (128bit) Radeon 6750?

You can get an i5-2550K and the latest Radeon 7950 for under $1500.
Or scale back on the video. Check this chart.

Thank you Amuffin, any suggestions on best combine Mobo+Chipset+VGA with overclocking capability, VGA-SLI and 50+ FPS on BF3 with the budget mention above?

    Again thank you.
  7. Thank you, you guys are the best i will back to my planning board and using intel instead.
  8. What website are you using to order/buy these parts?
  9. Are you sure you want to get him a 7950? Then again op never specified his resolution....
  10. no idea but his budget sure allows it
  11. What about a 570 and then putting more money towards the board? So he can get a p8z68-v pro/gen 3
  12. he could get it even with the 7950 if hes going with the $1500 budget.

but the board won't really affect gaming much compared to the 7950 I think, might be able to get like 200mhz more out of the i5 but the 7950 should be better in gaming generally.
  13. I would advocate delaying the build for a few months, at least until the end of Q2. Too many new products at the same price point coming out, you could easily put yourself ahead 2 years instead of back 2 by just waiting a little bit.

Also, with a $1500 budget you should not be using anything less then 1920x1080 resolution.
