Max DDR3 Speed

Ok i need some RAM for my new PC, but im confused about the speeds of DDR3. That's because my motherboard says to support up to 2133 (O.C.) DDR3 memory, but when i look to processor information (on few websites, my processor is still shipping so i cant get my hands on manul yet) it says that my processor supports up to 1333Mhz DDR3 memory. So im wondering if i should buy 1333Mhz memory, or the processor information is fake and i can use faster memory as far as my motherboard supports it?

My Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula
Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition

  1. I think that might be a bit of a strange mix because that's quite a high end motherboard but a much lower end CPU so I'd go with what your CPU manual says don't quote me though I'm not too sure!
  2. I would stick to 1600mhz. That's the standard and will provide the best performance as long as you stay with lower timings, say 7 to 9.
