Install problems for GeForce 8400 GS 512MB

So I bought this GFX card for my Dell Inspiron 530 and when I put the card in, and run my display through it and turn on my pc, it works until right before the log in screen then it goes black and stays that way, I have tried downloading the drivers from the NVIDIA site (old and new) but I just cant find the problem out.

Would something like this be good then? Its a Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR2 Low Profile video card.

You need to set your primary graphics to PCI-E in the system's BIOS setup.
