I recently bought a Blink II. First off let me say I
understand the quality/use/limitations of the camera. I had
an original Blink and liked playing with it. I sold it and
have ever since regretted it.
THE SHORT VERSION:
I think I just need a copy of the old Blink II driver. My
install CD has the newer driver that they have on their web
page (http://www.sipixdigital.com/) for download, but it
won't install and/or doesn't work right:
Anybody got a link to the old Blink II TWAIN driver
install???
THE LONG VERSION:
I tried to install the Twain driver on both a Win98 SE and
Win XP SP2 box. On both I got the dreaded:
Component transfer error
Error: 0
Nice error message guys. =)
On a THIRD Win XP SP2 box I got the driver to install, but
it's not a machine I can use often so I copied over the
c:\WINDOWS\twain_32\SiPix\SCBLINK2 directory over to my
Win98 SE box. I also noticed in the Windows device mgr that
I needed biomini.sys too, so I copied that over to
c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.
However after all that and no matter how many times I
'Update Driver' from the Device Manager it still shows the
little yellow exclamation point and in the properties it
says:
"The NTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could
not load the device driver. (Code 2.)"
(However the computer does see it as a SiPix Blink 2)
I've been all thru the SiPix site and done everything they
recommend. NUTHIN'! AND and they don't take adhoc
questions. Nice! All I want is a fun little toy...shoulda
kept the original Blink!!!
Inidentally, I've been able to download the photos on Linux
using gphoto2, however the Linux driver isn't quite there as
the images come out 640x240 in a pano type of mode (even
when I specify 'raw'). And one time, thru some strange
series of actions I was able to download one set of photos
on the Win98 SE box and they look fine, so I'm pretty sure
the camera works...just wish I could duplicate what I did
and get it downloading again!
