hello, i am new to these forums and in need of some advice.

I am looking to upgrade my the first pc i built over three years ago.

I am just looking at getting a new cpu and mobo and also a gpu.

I am primarily a gamer.

I would like to be able to play skyrim bf3 etc on medium settings with an average resolution. Ideally i would like the system to be viable for another 2-3 years before i need another upgrade of these components.

Also i have never OC'ed but would not be against trying it if it was needed.

I have an expensive option and a cheaper option, and would like your thoughts, would they achieve my aims?

(i am using Novatech.co.uk as my site of choice, they were very good last time)

Expensive Option:

i5 2500k 168 GBP

Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 intel Z68 115 GBP

XFX AMD Radeon HD 6870 1024mb GDDR5 140 GBP

Cheap Option:

AMD Quad Core Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 93 GBP

Asus M5A78L LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) Motherboard 55 GBP

XFX AMD Radeon HD 6870 1024mb GDDR5 140 GBP

I have the same GPU because i know that this is the most important bit of kit for good gaming performance.

Obviously the i5 would be better, but would the AMD achieve my aims?

Many thanks

bf3 doesnt depend weather you have i5 or pii.
skyrim likes intel i5.
my vote goes to i5 for its skyrim performance
