Can someone help with a RAM upgrade issue?

I am trying to upgrade to 16GB of memory on my ASUS Essentio CM6850 Intel i7 2600 Sandy Bridge. I purchased the GSKill DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4096MBx4 CL 9-9-9-24 1.5v. The computer would not boot (black screen) so I uninstalled the memory and put the old memory back in and it worked fine. At this point I realized that the installed memory was actually DDR3-1333... but I do not know if that is causing the issue or if I am doing something else wrong.

Would greatly appreciate any help from the forum and please let me know if I need to provide additional information.

Try resetting BIOS/CMOS before trying to boot up with the new ram.

what's the best way to do this if the computer won't boot? remove battery... or is there a better option?

Removing battery or follow instruction manual on the clear cmos jumper/button.

I reset with the jumper... But still getting same results...

Does it work with only two of the modules in?

2 modules do work... Do I go for 3?
