I have an Asustek A7N8X-LA motherboard with a Athlon XP 2.2 ghz cpu. I just purchased a PNY gforce 8400gs 512 mb graphics card. My question is: are these two components compatible?

More about compatibility
  1. If your motherboard is and the graphics card is PCIe instead of AGP, then they are not compatible and you wouldn't be able to insert it into the slot.
  2. I have an AGP slot and PCI. No PCI-E. The card is a PCI and it fits. I had the card in the computer, and when I boot it up, it did show the stats. of the card on the screen. When I went to install a driver for it, it didn't work. I can't find the correct driver. Plus, the fan on the card had seized up. I did replace the fan. but am afraid that I can harm my computer with this card. If there is anything anybody can enlighten me to, concerning the driver, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
  3. go to nvidia webside and download the latest driver
you dont have to find a driver for a particular card, the driver has instruction sets for all their cards
