3-monitor setup

Solution

Hm yes you are almost correct, but he needs 2 DVI - HDMI cables instead of 1?

So 1 HDMI - HDMI and 2 DVI - HDMI (1 is supplied with the card so he'll need 1 more). It depends on what cables he has for the monitors right now, whether those small adaptors will do or whether he needs to buy cables.

I'm not 100% sure about this but it looks like it should work -

One will go direct hdmi - hdmi http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882270048

and you'll need a small dvi - dsub (vga) connector to connect the vga cable from the monitor to the dvi on the card (assuming it is vga on both ends).

If you don't have any cable for the monitor then 1 of these (DVI to HDMI) will do - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882021059

edit - changed a bit.
