Brought one for my sister-in-law, having a play with it, put the
battery in and switched it on, lens came out and stayed out and camera
switched off. I have now charged the battery, when I switch it on the
display at the back lights up and then switched itself off
I have tried all the things suggested in the manual including using ac
power, removeing the battery and memory card but it still stays out. I
don't want to give it to her busted, any other ideas would be
appreciated.

Yes, tomorrow is a public holiday here Thought there might be some
magic hold seven buttons down at once and twirl around 3 times deal
that might make it go

Well, the bathing in the juice of 7000 pured garden slugs while holding
the camera over a yellow dog and chanting the Hamlet solioquy backwards so
rarely works that it just doesn't seem to be worth mentioning anymore.
