So we have:

Intel i5 2500K at $230

AMD FX-8150 at $240

Intel i7 2600K at $330

So in the 2500K vs the 8150, the general consensus seems to be Intel unless your upgrading a am3+.
The reason I question this is when the Q6600 first came out a lot of people said the faster dual-core counterparts were better, but I found my Q6600 exceeded their lifespan because more things were getting optimized for multi-threading.
So my question is will the 8150 possibly outlive the 2500K because of its 8 cores?

Or should I abandon both these and fork out the money for a 2600K?

Or... Should sit on my money for something that's around the corner?

I5 2500k is best if your just gaming
i7 2600k is best for gaming and heavy multi-threaded applications
amd is hopeless at gaming and just reaches ok on programs written for multiple threads, which won't be reaching 8 cores anytime soon

my advice would be 2500k and overclock

Another one of this comparison LOL.
If you're reading well in the articles posted in this site, you should already have the idea which is the better CPU :)
Hence, it alllllllllllll goes down to preference in terms of brand.
To some, benchmark tests and reviews and pretty much useless...

With the i5/i7 you know what you pay and you know what you get out of it. With the bulldozer you don't know what type of performance you will get and whether that is good enough for you.

Go on your head and not your heart or allegiance to a brand. Review and research until you are certain on your choice.
